"What is Ian drinking lately?"
Customers often ask what is the boss drinking as it's a pretty good guide for them: as they know he has vast experience in this area.
Recently he has been partaking of Chemin de Moscou" a French Syrah / Grenache / Cinsault blend from Domaine Gayda high in the Minervois area of the Languedoc region in the south of France not far from the Pyrennes.
With vineyards dating back to Roman times it is a well proven area and Ian was happy to compare this wine very favorably with some of the higher end Penfolds in terms of its aroma and overall complexity.
It's not on our wine list - ask Justus or Shirley and they will be happy to oblige.
Tasting notes:
Deep purple, almost opaque in colour with an
expressive nose of black fruits, pepper, cinnamon, spice and violets. A seductive
palate of dark hedgerow fruits, very open and welcoming with an explosion of
fruit and spice. Mineral undertones.
